OH Referral
MKOH can arrange a medical consultation with one of our Qualified Occupational Health Physicians or Nurse Advisers who will be able to provide a professional medical opinion.
The report will advise management regarding the concerns raised about the employee's health and to make recommendations about what adjustments, or next steps are required. This will be discussed with the employee as part of the consultation to ensure a report is provided to Management with both informed specialist medical opinion and commitment from the employee enabling them to factor this into their Management decisions.
Consultations can be carried out face to face or remotely enabling a swift response to referrals by MKOH in any area of the country. The consultations can be provided on or off site, on a one off ad-hoc basis or on a continual contractual basis.
MKOH provides clear unambiguous actionable advice on how to manage the employee with the reports containing as a minimum:
- What is the likely duration of the absence?
- Is there an underlying medical condition responsible for the absence(s)?
- Is the absence likely to recur?
- Is there any temporary or permanent restriction on the person’s ability to perform the duties of their post?
- For temporary restrictions - the likely duration, if permanent – the nature of the restriction.
- Is redeployment to alternative duties considered appropriate?
- Recommended appropriate alternative work areas and any restrictions
- Is ill health retirement considered appropriate?
- Is counselling likely to be of assistance to this employee?
- Does the employee would be considered to have a disability under the provisions of the Equalities Act 2010?
A referral with MKOH could not be easier to arrange. All you have to do is contact us via telephone or email to request a management referral.
We will then send you a management referral form and relevant consents to complete and subsequently book an appointment for you/your employee with one of our OH Physicians or Nurses.
MKOH can also provide this service onsite at your company (please contact us for further information).
Telephone Referral
Whilst MKOH prefer to provide a face to face service, some referrals and case management activities do not require a physical examination.
Our specialist medical staff can gather via a telephone consultation the in depth medical information they require to advise Management appropriately as they would a face to face consultation.
In certain circumstances this has its advantages:
- Appointments can be arranged on a more flexible basis
- Instant access nationwide to employees without having to arrange site visits
- Employees do not have to travel, thus saving both the employer an employee time and money.
Telephone referrals are arranged in exactly the same manner as a regular referral.
